Vehicle Description
The year is 1949. Radio broadcasts are still the main form of
communication and you could hear songs from Vaughn Monroe with
"Riders in The Sky", or Frankie Laine, with "That Lucky Old Sun".
this new thing called Television was slowly taking the nation by
storm if you lived in a major city like New York, Chicago, St.
Louis, and so on. Progress was about to get a lot more interesting
and we were still in love with the automobile and the freedom that
it gave us to go wherever and do whatever we wanted. You could get
your kicks on Route 66 and live the post WWII life for all it was
worth. This is one of the cars that you would have seen on the
road.
Just Toys Classic Cars is proud to present this rare 1949 Dodge
Coronet 4 door sedan. Yes the name Coronet was used long before the
name was known with muscle cars. This is truly one of those cars
that takes you back in time. This is about a 25 year old
restoration. The car presents itself very well, but as to be
expected, the car will have a few blemishes here and there. That
being said, it is very hard to find this car in this kind of shape.
The fit and finish are in great shape and you would be proud to
drive it anywhere.
The interior of this fine beauty was redone as well, and as you
will see in the pics, there are no rips or tears in the seats, or
the headliner and the door panels are in great shape as well. We
just can not say enough how nice this car is for the age. The
bright work presents itself very well and you just go back in time
the minute that you get behind the wheel.
So let's do just that. Jump in the driver side, push in that clutch
and hit that key and listen to the 230 Cubic Inch Straight 6 come
to life. This car purrs like a kitten. You almost don't even hear
it run it runs so well. This motor didn't have a lot of horsepower,
but it had tons of torque so it could still get you "off the line"
quickly. With this motor you could reach top speeds of 90 MPH. Not
bad for a 3550 pound car with just a 6 cylinder in it. It is
believed to be original miles on the car as back in the day, even
though you would do road trips and things of that nature, there was
so much coming out new every year, people didn't drive cars like
they do today and put 100,000 miles on them.
Underneath of this car is driver plus quality as you will see in
the pics. It is not Saturday night Barrett-Jackson chassis cam, but
it is not a rust bucket for sure. You have a coil spring suspension
up front and leaf springs in the rear. The 4 wheel drum brakes stop
just like they should and the clutch is right and tight. This is
what we call a tires and oil changes car. Change the tires and oil
when it needs it and go have a good time.
This car is beautiful stock, or you could make a street rod, or
lead sled out of it. Either way, it is fun and you will get a ton
if thumbs up when driving it around. We offer classic car financing
for those that would like to take advantage of the option. They
offer great rates and terms with as little as 10% down. This gives
you the opportunity to drive the cars of your dreams and pay it off
when you want to without any prepayment penalties. Life is short,
drive what you want today. We look forward to speaking with you
soon, and we look forward to making you the newest member of the
Just Toys Classic Cars family.
