For Sale: 1960 Chevrolet Sedan Delivery in Ft Worth, Texas

Vehicle Description

This 1960 Chevrolet sedan delivery is the epitome of cool. It's got the right stance, a fresh coat of paint, and a classic look that will definitely stand out. And if you need a hauler, there are few vehicles as practical as the sedan delivery with its cavernous cargo bay. At this price, it's more eyeball appeal than just about anything else on the market.

The 1960 Chevrolets were a home-run in terms of styling, and the sedan delivery got all the same updates as the rest of the line. There are some vestigial fins out back but they've been tamed a bit, and the front end is clean and smooth, which makes it look slick. The fresh coat of turquoise paint isn't the car's original color, but it sure looks sharp and correct for the period. The sheetmetal is in good condition as well, which is a relief because parts other than the front clip are probably unobtainium. Nice chrome bumpers, a clean grille, and those gullwing-style fins out back make for a dramatic hauler that's got a lot more class than your garden-variety pickup truck or station wagon.

The interior isn't big on originality, with a set of bucket seats from a later car and a custom-fabricated center console. However, that also means that it's comfortable to drive and the most notable features remain, including the dash and steering wheel. You'll note there's a tall Hurst shifter with cue ball knob right there in the middle of everything, and it's linked to a 5-speed manual gearbox, so this panel truck well and truly hauls. The original gauge pods remain, one of Chevy's best designs, but they've been filled with modern Auto Meter gauges along with a Sunpro tach up on top. There is no radio, but it's pre-wired for one if you'd like to add some more entertainment, but I'm guessing the guy who built it liked the way the rumbling small block V8 sounded more than he liked his music, and that's totally understandable. And yes, the cargo bay is truly massive, upholstered in black carpet with tidy vinyl side panels that add a bit of protection.

The engine is your traditional 350 cubic inch Chevy crate motor, and it moves the sedan delivery with ease. It's got a few dress-up parts, a performance intake and 4-barrel carburetor, as well as an HEI ignition system upgrade. Inside, there's a mild cam that adds a nice lope to the idle and makes great mid-range torque. Block-hugging headers feed a pair of Flowmaster mufflers underneath, so it sounds suitably racy on the street. The suspension has a modest drop, just enough to add some attitude but not wreck the ride quality, and power steering and power front disc brakes were added for safety. The 5-speed manual transmission was recently rebuilt and feeds what appears to be the original rear end, so it's a fantastic highway flyer. 18-inch Boss Motorsport wheels look a bit like traditional Torque Thrusts but the taller profile makes this one look butch, particularly with those wide 245/40/18 front and 255/45/18 rear performance radials.

Frankly, we're shocked by how affordable this cool hauler really is. Nicely built, good equipment, and with just the right look for any occasion. How can you go wrong? Call today!
