Vehicle Description
These recreational vehicles were produced from 1973 through 1978
and was the only complete motorhome built by a major automotive
manufacturer. GM hoped it would be their "halo" vehicle. It was
extremely ahead of the times offering a front wheel drive platform
that had radical design cues with a low profile and fully
integrated body.
They offered a twenty three foot and twenty six foot variant. Empty
shells were supplied to other RV manufacturers for upfitting and
custom purposes ranging from mail delivery, mobile training
facilities and machine haulers. A total of 12,921 motorhomes were
produced during the five year production run. And of those over
7,000 are currently listed in a international registry and it is
believed that 8,000-9,000 are still in running condition making
them become very collectible.
This particular example has had a interesting life as hauler of
race-car trailers and owner. It was primarily used to attend racing
events around the mid-west and country and remains in largely
original condition. The vehicle is on consignment and the current
owner has had the vehicle about thirteen years and have used it
sparingly for recreational purposes. It has been stored inside
during that time and shows no rust on the underside. The paint and
decals are fading but the interior is in nice original condition.
All the maintenance is kept up to date with a brake overhaul just
before they brought it in.
