For Sale: 1930 Hudson Sprint Car in Auburn, Indiana
To be OFFERED AT AUCTION at Auctions America’s Auburn Fall event, September 1-4, 2016.
Chassis No. BILL OF SALE
Estimate: $ 18,000 - $ 22,000 US
This Hudson-powered racecar was purchased as a complete car, less engine, prior to World War II by a gentleman named George Place from Ohio. Mr. Place is able to convey that the car has an original alloy body that is fitted to a drilled and lightened Ford Model A frame with an original 1932 Ford front axle.
The car is said to have always run Hudson “Sixes,” the current power is derived from a 308 Hudson Hornet engine with twin carburetors and is connected to an in-out gearbox. The car has the early quick-change, early front crank tach-drive, an external sump oil pump that holds approximately four gallons of oil in the pan and sump, needle-bearing cam and early gauges. The wheels are alloy discs and they are mounted with a center spindle knock-off. The hood is louvered on the sides and secured with leather straps.
The only thing stated to be updated has been to apply a more modern paint scheme with number 98 om the tank and resembling the paint scheme applied to the Kuzma driven to victory in the 1952 Indianapolis 500 by Troy Ruttman for car owner J.C. Agajanian.
