"Open the door on tomorrow" was the advertising statement for the new 1955 Dodge cars that were being introduced. "What's really new in motor cars? There's just one way to find out! “Step up to this new Dodge!" 1955 was the year of a complete styling turn-around for Chrysler, a styling renaissance led by Virgil Exner, the 1955 Dodge had a 120-inch wheelbase and a length of 212.1 inches – 6.6 inches longer the 1954 Dodge. The dodge had flair, with a wraparound windshield and very clean lines. The flagship of the Dodge line was the Custom Royals sold as two door hardtops, four door sedans, as well as, two door convertibles.
Preserved from time, the 1955 Dodge Custom Royal offered here was termed in '55 as the new and thrilling future for the Dodge brand! All lines of this Dodge are clean and the paint is in very good driver condition. The Chrome still shines bright but does show some age. Slide into the driver seat and slip back in time with the Dodge wraparound windshield. Start her up and shift the Royal into drive with the Dodge innovative dash shifter lever. The interior just like the exterior has been well preserved and maintained by previous owners. The interior is very clean with some wear, but presents well overall.
Look under the hood and you will find the 270ci 4.4L V8 Red Ram engine Dual Exhaust, which was a rare PowerPack option. Matched with the 2-speed PowerFlite automatic transmission, it was a pleasure to test drive.
