Vehicle Description
1969 Shelby GT500 For Sale - Numbers Matching R-Code 428, Fully
Documented, 4-Speed LMC is very proud to offer for sale this 69
Shelby GT500. The Shelby Mustang was built in the early years by
Shelby American /Shelby Automotive. The '69 and '70 Shelby Mustangs
were built entirely at the Ford Plants as Ford marketing wanted to
achieve more brand recognition through these extremely popular
Shelby machines along with marketing their own special high
performance Boss and Mach 1 Mustangs. These next generation Shelby
Mustang GTs were either the 351 cu in equipped GT350 or the GT500
with Ford's mega 428 block. The 1969 model year received an
extensive face lift with the body increasing in length by 4 inches.
Up front, the dual headlights now sat within the full width/deep
recessed black grill with the Snake in the right corner. The
distinctive hood had the air duct system for cooling the engine
with five NACA ducts' as they were known providing three inlets
and two outlet vents. Out back, a contoured body spoiler that has a
Black recessed full-width insert having the Shelby name in chrome
letters. Below the rear spoiler is the distinctive styling of full
width tail lights. Overall this new exterior look was long and low
with racy styling and looks that seems to dare anything on the road
to try and challenge. In 1969 there were only 1157 GT500 Fastbacks
that rolled off the assembly line. A 1969 Shelby advertisement had
the heading of Fire and Refinement' and suggested the Shelby, a
very special kind of car...GT350 or the GT500...designed for rapid
transit in the utmost comfort and luxury'. This Shelby GT500, as
noted in the Shelby Registry on pages 862 and 956, originally
shipped/delivered to D.A. Casey Ltd Amherst Nova Scotia back on
January 29, 1969. Original owner was from New Glasgow Nova Scotia
and apparently this Shelby has resided in the province of Nova
Scotia since new. The last Nova Scotia owner kept this Shelby for
almost twenty years. A definite eye grabber in the Factory Code P
of Pastel Gray with the Blue Stripes along the side belt line. Turn
the chrome Hood Latches to see an original condition engine bay
with the famous numbers matching R-Code 428 Ram Air engine that
delivered a suspiciously low 335HP. The Ford Big Block has the
desirable 4-Speed Close Ratio Manual Transmission with the
competition Hurst shifter linked up to the 3.50 Traction-Lok Axle.
BF Goodrich Radial T/A raised white letter tires mounted on the
great looking Shelby-unique Shelby only five spoke wheels. Power
front disc, rear drum brakes and power steering were mandatory
options to ensure the Shelby provided the road handling ability
they were famous for. Complemented by its Black Clarion
Knit/Corinthian Vinyl, Code 3A, t with he comfortable Hi-Back
Bucket Seat has a bright Red band at the top of the pleats. This is
the same Red that is used in the sewn in Red Rubber Floor Mats
within the Black Carpeting. Other features and conveniences include
the Power Front Disc Brakes, race inspired Roll Bar with Harness,
Sport Deck Rear Seat, AM/FM Radio, Tinted Glass, Power Ventilation,
8000 rpm Tach, Tilt-Away Steering Wheel, Clock, Driver-Remote/Dual
Body-Colored Racing style Mirrors, Tinted Glass as well as the
Oil/Amp gauges in the full console. Documentation includes the
original Ford Purchase Order, original Shelby Automotive Co. Inc.
Invoice/Sales Copy sheet, the original Shelby Automotive Co. Inc.
Individual Order Sheet, Ford 10 Day Production Schedule Report and
the Owner's Manual. The 1969 advertisement with Carroll Shelby
leaning against a Shelby stated 'Sitting still....it looks
Invincible' reflected the awesome 428 CJ power. This Shelby GT500
will appeal to any Ford enthusiast or fine collector that
appreciates how much the classic Shelby muscle has become so
treasured today...to be sold as is to a Ford Shelby enthusiast that
is interested in taking this Shelby to the next level of either
driving excitement and/or full restoration for car show enjoyment.
