Porsche set the world into a tailspin when it announced that the new 996 model would be a water cooled engine from the famous and long-running air cooled system that had been in place since the beginning. After many long test drives and more and more drivers got behind the wheel, they realized what Porsche was doing. With more horsepower, even more dependability and even more possibilities, the 996 Carrera took a significant design change as well in the new model. Gone were the big bug eye lights and the dated interior and lack of creature comforts. This model was to appeal to a larger crowd and it did just that.
