The only opportuity I have ever seen in the States to get a fantastic D-Type replica for the right price that only needs finishing. It is a sad circumstance how many people have a nearly completed project that stalls, but those are fantastic opportunities for the next guy.
...and it's a D-Type!
What it is?
This D-Type replica has all correct Jaguar running gear and suspension. The engine is a clean 3.8 with side draft weber carburettors and the gear box from the V12 XKE. Correct Dunlop wheels are a must as well as the proper gauges laid out correctly. At this valuation, the body work is indeed fiberglass and the chassis steel tubular frame, but the execution is fantastic and if you gently rap on the bonnet, it may well may fool you into thinking it's aluminum. The paint work is excellent, as is the upholstery of the seats, and the fabrication of the dash.
What comes with it?
As you can see in the pictures with all the parts laid out, the important items to finish the car are there and it even comes with a set of lightweight racing brake calipers as extra. Naturally, there will be some smaller items that you will need to source in finishing the car (hardware, plumbing, ignition bits, etc) but those are minor in comparison.
Why we don't finish it?
While we are busy with client vehicles, it is well with in our power and interest to finish this Jaguar off impecably. That being said and if we did, it would just be one more damned expensive car on the market. As a child, I grew up working on British cars with my father and his friends. Morgans, Minis, Lotus, etc. In the past, true car guys could afford to go out and buy a cool old car and if they couldn't afford a concours car, they could invest their pride and work on it themselves in their own garage. Then things changed... Well, consider this Jaguar D-Type my way of fighting back. Maybe it will be finished by a father and son together or maybe it will be a retired man who always dreamed of racing at LeMans to finish quietly over a winter? What I do know is that this is a car and a project that means something. If it doesn't mean more to you than just hardware and money, then I am afraid we are simply too busy to take your call.
