1968 Chevelle Convertible
Rotisserie restored in 1987 (base coat/clear coat), then stored as part of a collection and rarely driven through 2012. All sheet metal is believed to be original and is in excellent condition.
I bought the car in 2012 and have since upgraded the engine, transmission, brakes, steering & suspension. I am selling in order to buy or build a 1966 Chevelle convertible. Will consider trade or partial trade for a 66 convertible (but no other trade offers please).
Engine is GM Performance - ZZ4 350, 355 hp, 405 lb-ft torque, alum heads... Carb, fuel pump, distributor, alternator, starter, radiator, belts, hoses, etc... were all replaced with new during engine swap.
Transmission is Turbo 350 – Professionally built (including converter) by Certified Transmission - Road Ripper performance series.
Suspension is from CPP and includes tubular front upper and lower control arms, spindles, QA1 coil over shocks in front, rear springs & shocks, sway bars, power steering box, drilled & slotted rotors (4 wheel disk), powder coated calipers, matched master cylinder/prop valve, 100% new brake lines, steering linkage, bushings, etc.
Wheels are Ridler 695's, 18x9.5 & 18x8. Tires are Nitto 555's, 275/40 ZR18 & 245/40 ZR18.
Overall, the car is exceptionally clean/solid and was updated for reliability and drivability. The 29 year old restoration has held up very well and is a testament to the condition of it’s metal. The mechanical upgrades provide a sporty feel and there are less than 2,000 miles on the new motor, trans, suspension and brakes.
The previous owner lives in the Nashville area and in 2004, the car was used in Darryl Worley's "Awful Beautiful Life" music video.
