For Sale: 1969 Volkswagen Westfalia Camper in Carson, California

Vehicle Description

No vehicle quite captures the spirit of the 1960’s like the Volkswagen Type 2. Known by many names such as transporter, kombi, bulli, samba, van, microbus or just simply called a bus, the Volkswagen Type 2 was the mascot of the counterculture movement in the United States and a symbol of the freedom of youth during that period. This 1969 Volkswagen SO-67 Westfalia camper represents that freedom and as a second generation model, it was even better than the 1967 and earlier Type 2’s it replaced. Better handling and driving than their predecessors, the baywindow buses, known as such after their single large windshields, were as versatile as ever, and this 1969 “Westy” is no exception. According to the M-Code plate, this bus was built February 24th, 1969 and was originally delivered to Jacksonville Florida but is an original California black plate bus. Fully restored, this Westy has received all new paint and interior, as well as new door seals, window seals, engine lid seal, poptop seal, and exterior trim seals. Other new items include new reflectors and taillight lenses, new rear view mirrors, new floor mats and seat stand mats, and a new windshield. Powered by a singleport 1600cc 4-cylinder engine and 4-speed manual transmission, this bus runs smoothly and quietly and even still has all the heater components, which are often missing and the bus has been upgraded from a generator to an alternator for reliability. It retains most of its camper equipment, such as the original Westfalia fold out bed, closet, and table, although the sink and jumpseat are missing. The poptop has a few repaired areas but is intact and works, and the upper cot is present as well. Additionally, the bus has an aftermarket Pioneer headunit installed as well. Overall this bus shows very well, runs and drives very nicely and is ready to be taken on its next adventure. Capture the spirit on the sixties in this ’69 Westy by taking it wherever your heart desires! Please note: this vehicle has a California-assigned VIN number.
