GR Auto Gallery is pleased to present this 1936 Ford Deluxe Fodor Touring Sedan, these models were introduced in 1935, replacing the Model 40A. It sold an amazing 820,000 units that year, making Ford the sales leader over rival Chevrolet. The Model 48 was manufactured at Ford plants in either Detroit or Long Beach. The model year 1936 saw only minor changes from the previous year but they were good ones. The hood became longer and more pointed, and the grille was given a sharper V-shape. Industry design practices dictated hiding some components previously visible, so horns now sat behind the "catwalk" grilles that followed the pattern of the main grille. Though the spare tire could be mounted either inside or outside on sedans, external spares were still the rule. This car is equipped with the optional integral trunk called the "Trunkback", a styling feature that began in 1935. 1936 was the last year Ford would use the fabric roof insert in its sedans.
This extremely clean and well-kept example of 1936 Ford with the 221ci Flathead V8 with 3-speed manual transmission, comes in the correct for the time handsome Gray Vineyard Green, walking around you will see the Ford script wide whitewall tires as well as according to the owner original Ford stainless steel spider hubcaps. From the driver's seat, you will notice the dashboard and all garnish moldings are a woodgrain finish. All has been redone correctly; the gauges look and function beautifully. The LeBaron Bonney deluxe worsted wool upholstery is nicely installed with all appears to be new floor mats and carpeting. The trunk area is done to appear original; some accessories include fog lights, dual windshield wipers, greyhound hood ornament, Ford exhaust ornament, and a backup fuel pump.
