Our offer today is a very special 1973 L82 Convertible. This model year has a special place in the collectors heart due to its unique one-off appeal, the middle of the transition from "bumper cars"... Due to stricter insurance requirements, GM decided to offer only rear Chrome bumpers for the 73 models. This fairly odd choice created a unique look which made it popular for collectors of something special.
The fine example we bring to your attention is a snazzy Red Convertible which comes with the matching numbers L82, an optional choice for 16% of production. The engine has the correct VIN and suffix CLR stamped on the engine pad signifying the L82/manual combo (see pic.) Also, the fifth digit in the VIN, is "T" indicating the L82 RPO. Engine compartment is beautifully detailed and complete with original L82 valve covers, original screw-in studs and guide platess, O-rocker arms, 2.02 intake and 1.6 exhaust valves. Engine is mated with the correct matching numbers M20 Muncie 4-speed manual transmission and original rear axle. Nicely sounding Flowmaster exhaust allows better breathing still with a mild roar. There are no power options, a perfect choice for the purist! Miles show 77K which may be actual, judging by the overall condition and tell-tale signs, but there is no documentation. It appears that the car was on-frame restored some 10-15 years ago as it features a very nice paint, new interior, good top, etc. Paint is also matching the trim tag, code 976 - "Mille Miglia Red" with the standard black interior, code 400. Mechanically, it is in excellent condition, with all gauges and dash in working order, except clock, of course. Vacuum system was checked and is in perfect working order.
