1967 MERCURY COUGAR XR7. 90% RESTORED CAR.
This dry and rust free 1967 Cougar XR7 has undergone an extensive restoration and it was around 90% finished when the owner passed away.
There is still relatively minor things to do; finish installing a few exterior trim pieces, finish assembling the center console, finish assembling parts of the dash, finish hooking up the headlight doors, etc. The A/C is new as far as we can see and it is not completely installed yet.
The Cougar starts and runs great, lights work (no working turn signals right now).
The body is rust free and excellent. The car was painted but it has been stored improperly since then and the clear coat has sun-damage now.
The black interior is new and very nice.
New XR7 seat covers front and rear in correct two different grains, new carpet, new headliner, new door panels and rear panels, new exterior vinyl roof.
All new weather stripping.
Mechanically we are not 100% sure what has been done but the motor is as far as we can determine a High Output 302 (5.0L) with aluminum heads, probably a hotter cam, new Hedman headers, serpentine pulleys, etc.
It runs great and sounds great and there’s a lot of power when you step in to it.
I assume the engine has been totally gone through but since there’s no one to ask questions of I can’t guarantee that.
The bottom of the car is very nice, clean, rust free and painted black.
The chrome looks new, the rims have very nice chrome, the black centers should probably be repainted and tires are new.
The trunk is painted body color and looks great and there is a new trunk mat and spare tire cover.
With relatively minor work this will be a fantastic and fun driver and it would not be difficult to make it into a show car.
We are selling the Cougar for the estate so it is priced low to sell fast.
