Vehicle Description
Originally a 6-cylinder automatic, this Wimbledon White 1970 Ford Mustang Fastback has been modified to a V8 with manual transmission performance specs. Under the hood is a 351W V8 with full-length headers, a high rise Weiand Stealth intake and a 600 CFM Holley four barrel. The cam has a lift profile that favors torque over horsepower, though the consignor estimates that horsepower at 350 and the torque north of 400 ft./lbs. at the flywheel. Spark is generated by a 50K volt HEI coil on cap distributor.
Handling has been upgraded with a Randall’s Rack power rack and pinion steering, a 1” front anti-sway bar, and a 3/4” rear anti-sway bar. The power brakes are 11” slotted rotors up front and 10” drums in the back. Rims are 15x8 Cragars with BF Goodrich rubber for a P225/60 R15 wheel package. The rear end is a Richmond 8” 3:55 gear set. Urethane bushings and KYB gas shocks are all around. The transmission is the latest Tremec 5-speed with a hydraulic clutch. The Tremec shifter is used with a Hurst stick and ball.
Inside, a new dash from the original Ford tooling is in place. All gauges are factory and in working order, including the ammeter. A Summit tachometer is on the steering column where a Moto-Lita steering wheel is at the helm. The radio is a Retrosound Model 2 unit with Bluetooth and USB connections. New Pioneer speakers are front and back. A new headliner was recently installed. Outside, all of the sheet metal is either factory or NOS. The bumpers are from Ford, as are the brake and most of the marker lenses. The front windshield is a replacement, whereas the side and rear glass are all from the factory. All weather stripping has been replaced. According to the consignor, this car was built as a driver and it out handles and outperforms any stock first generation Mustang. Sold with a title and recent registration.
