This 1966 Ford Thunderbird has a rebuilt C-6 transmission and a rebuilt 428 cubic inch engine (replaced the original 390 cubic inch engine), both with less than 5,000 miles. The shocks and springs were replaced the same time as the engine. It has an aluminum radiator, a flex fan, and chromed shroud. The braces and shock towers in the top of the engine compartment have been chromed as well as the lower half of the air cleaner. The paint is medium palomino metallic, is about a year old and looks like new. The convertible top is in excellent condition and watching the top disappear into the trunk is a show by itself. This Thunderbird has always been garage stored since we have owned it since 2006. It has been safety inspected every year and well maintained. In addition, it comes with a tonneau cover ( which was painted the same time as the car). The chrome wire wheels are also new. This car is heaven to drive. It has power steering, power disc brakes, sequential tail lights, swing away steering column (this needs to be adjusted), original AM/FM radio, original 8 track player (It works sometimes), and t-bird floor mats. The windows are roll up. There is no air conditioning. The interior is black vinyl. The wrap around back seat is in fair condition, however the front seats do need to be repaired. Both front seats need new foam and the drivers seat needs to be stitched by the seams as it is pulling apart. The drivers seat is powered but the passenger seat is not. The back of the front seats seem to be chrome and they do have scratches The project is well under way, however besides what has already been mentioned there are some unfinished items. The right door opening mechanism needs to be fixed. The starter struggles and sometimes fails when the engine is hot. The transmission needs a new pan gasket. We are not aware of any rust problems and have honestly listed items that need to be fixed. The mileage showing on the dash is approximately 79,000. The 1966 Ford Thunderbird convertible was one of the most beautiful luxury convertibles produced. It was one of the last convertibles produced in the 1960's and the first to have an 8 track tape player. This gorgeous car is 50 years old and although we have kept it perfectly maintained and have invested quite a bit of money in it there is no guarantee that some minor problem won't occur. We are selling this car because we also own two other classic cars. At 17,900 we feel this is a really good price, but we are open to "reasonable offers". THE LAST FEW PICTURES SHOW THE UNDERCARRIAGE AND ADDITIONAL PICTURES WHICH WERE JUST ADDED IN JANUARY 2017. The interior photo's are not as good as I would like them to be and show a lighter shade of black and make the minor flaws look worse than they are. Also, although some pictures may look the same they are not because some are with the tunneu cover and others are not.
