West Coast Classics are proud to present an original southern California owner example of this obviously always garaged and rust free 1967 Mercury Cougar XR7 coupe which was originally sold on 7/31/67 at 'Beverly Lincoln Mercury' of Beverly Hills, California to its original southern California owner in its original 'Dark Moss Green Metallic' color with a 'Saddle Haircell' luxury vinyl interior and a 4 Barrel 289 V8 engine!
The XR-7 model brought a simulated wood-grained dashboard with a full set of black-faced competition instruments and toggle switches, an overhead console, a T-type center automatic transmission shifter (if equipped with the optional Merc-O-Matic transmission), and leather/vinyl upholstery. This particular example was ordered on 6/23/1967 and built in Dearborn, MI with a 289/225HP V8 4 barrel engine and a C4 automatic transmission with other factory ordered options including:
Courtesy Light Group
Electric Clock
Power Front Disc Brakes
Power Steering
Air Conditioner - Whisperaire
AM/FM Radio
Luxury XR7 interior
Deluxe Seat Belts
Door Edge Guards
Tinted Glass
Wheel Covers
The car has a beautiful repaint in its original and correct 'Dark Moss Green Metallic' color paint and its mostly all original 'Saddle Vinyl Bucket Seats Interior' and which still boasts its original factory radio. The car was purchased and has always been owned by its original and only southern California owner and boasts its original Protecto-plate and all original service records showing that at no time was any expense spared on this car's preventive maintenance. Please note that recent service history includes a full service, an after market 'Edelbrock' performance carburetor, a new radiator, power steering pressure hoses and heater core installed and that the AC compressor has been removed and not replaced. The car has its original spare wheel and carpet in the trunk as seen in the photos below.
This particular car must be seen and driven to be fully appreciated - very honest original southern California original owner car which still turns heads wherever she goes although please note that it does have a few shopping cart dings and paint chips and a very small dent on the drivers side rear fender (see photos below). The engine is extremely strong and responsive with excellent oil pressure and no noticeable oil leaks and which sounds absolutely magnificent, the transmission shifts smoothly through the gears and the engine temperature always remains cool.
This is one very rare documented original southern California owner 'Black License' Plate 1967 Mercury Cougar XR7 289 'A' code 4 BBL V8 Coupe in this very desirable original color combination and a wonderful daily driving example of this increasingly collectible and desirable of first year Cougars in turn-key ready daily driving & daily head-turning condition!
The car's data plate reads: 65B-Y-6F-23F-52-1-W.
