For Sale: 1973 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Convertible in Lutz, Florida
We fall in love with cars like this 1973 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Royale convertible pretty easily because they represent an end of an era. The big V8 American ragtop would be gone in a few years, but it's easily celebrated now on a car that is presented beautifully in the right colors and priced to enjoy the warm weather tomorrow.
Earthtones were all the rage in the 70s, and so we're quite happy someone invested heavily to change the original Crystal Green to a modern glossy black. It's the kind of highly professional respray that requires exceptionally straight and clean sheetmetal. You can instantly tell this is a cared for classic just by how the wonderful strip of trim runs the entire length of both sides in an unbroken wave over the panels. The remaining brightwork is remarkably restrained for the era, with excellent chrome bumpers and polished stainless details that are very well preserved. Even the factory wire wheel covers present nicely. Add in the tan power folding top and no matter if the roof is on or off, it's a classic with a very modern and cool presence.
The interior got a full makeover as well. The original white vinyl would have been fun to have when new, but the tan is far more modern and durable in its presentation today. Also, one of the best parts of the investment in this drop top is the switchover to comfortable cloth seating. So no matter if its just you out enjoying a Sunday cruise or your seating six on an ice-cream run, you can leave the top down and won't return to a leg-scorching interior. The investment in this interior is so good that it looks like it came from the factory that way. Of course, as an Oldsmobile you know it's full of luxury options such as power windows, tilt steering column, cruise control, and the dash is lined with very nice wood paneling. In fact, that wraparound display is one of the interior's coolest features, and puts all the major controls right at the driver's fingertips. This includes the upgrades AM/FM/CD stereo and the air conditioning that's now running modern R134a for easy servicing. So while it might only take one touch of a button to raise the roof on this Olds, it's a car that was truly built to cruise with the top down much longer in the warm seasons.
To move all that sheetmetal you need big torque, and the Oldsmobile 455 cubic inch V8 delivers creamy-smooth power that makes this car feel effortless in everything it does. The big gold engine starts easily and idles quieter than some new cars. But out on the open road that factory four-barrel carb opens up and moves this large convertible with serious authority. The TH400 three-speed automatic transmission is always happy to cruise. So with other features like the power steering, front disc brakes, and modern comfortable Firestone tires, this is the right choice for those who like to drive their classics.
Complete with owner's manual, affordable luxury with a top that goes down never looked as good as it does here. You don't have to be an Oldsmobile fan to love true vintage luxury like this. Call today!!!
