In 1966, the Chevelle received a restyling, which gave the car a “Coke bottle” shape, a popular theme for mid 1960s automotive styling. With the restyling the Super Sport became its own model. For 1966 the 396 Super Sport included twin simulated air intakes, fender moldings, Super Sport script on the rear fenders, and SS 396 emblems at the front and rear of the car. The Chevelle SS 396 was offered in either a sport coupe or convertible.
This frame-off restored 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 396 Sport Coupe is presented in black with accenting chrome trim. The car rides on Firestone Wide Oval tires mounted on Chevrolet’s Rally wheels. The Chevelle is powered by a 396-cid, 375-hp V-8 engine which is paired to a manual transmission. The interior is completed in black featuring bucket seats with seatbelts, "knee knocker" tachometer, a center console and radio. The owner reports that this Chevelle retains its complete, original drivetrain. This stunning all black 1966 Chevelle SS 396 is a beautiful example of the model and would make a great addition to any collection.
