A classic 1961 Ford Ranchero with an upgraded V8 and an A/C
interior...Oh yeah, and all the bold purple that's used as a
uniform feature throughout the pickup. This is an exceptionally
cool custom that you can pick up for an exceptionally affordable
price.
We could pretend that this is just some pristine white Ranchero,
but you can see how bold this one is from the first glance. The
custom metallic purple front end and stripes are a really cool
package. It makes this car/truck look like its doing 200 mph and
the wild purple is finally being revealed as its the tame white
facade is forcefully being pulled off by the speed. But more than
just the paint, this is one cool custom build with cat eye
headlight covers and a mirror-like chrome bumper up front. Out back
there's a custom tonneau cover, custom Ranchero pinstripe tailgate,
and another great chrome bumper. In between these ends is a
muscular profile provided by the Weld-style five-star wheels and
the aggressive forward-leaning stance.
The exterior purple and white theme continues through to the custom
interior. The high-back seat is a late-model addition that provides
more support than anything that came out of the '60s. Of course
that purple cloth is far from anything factory, and it coordinates
nicely with the custom door panels and dashboard. This split bench
offers room for three or you can put down the armrest for
individual comfort. Speaking of comfort, you also have modern
luxuries such as the AM/FM/CD stereo and ice-cold R134a air
conditioning. But the best features are reserved for the driver.
Your left hand goes on the woodgrained steering wheel, and your
right one loves the Lokar shifter. You get a full array of
classic-style gauges, and with one twist of the key, the growl lets
you know there's something special under the hood.
The full name of this car/pickup is Ford Falcon Ranchero. While you
probably saw the Falcon resemblance without a problem, the real
significance is under the hood. By being related to the Mustang,
it's an easy upgrade to swap the original six-cylinder for a
powerful 289 V8. The motor has been further enhanced with
performance features such as an Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor
and Edelbrock Performer intake. This added power is easily heard
through the rumbling dual exhaust. But just like the interior,
there's a lot of comfort to go with the performance. For example,
there's a Champion aluminum radiator to help keep everything cool
even in traffic. Add that to great anytime driving features like
the three-speed automatic transmission and front disc brakes, and
you've got a cool-looking custom car that's a breeze to drive
anywhere.
It's hard not to love a cool custom Ranchero. But when it's fully
sorted with terrific features and priced less than a new F-150,
well then you know it's going to leave our showroom quickly. Call
