In 1968 Chevrolet released the second generation of the Chevelle, which featuring a sportier fastback design. For 1970 the Chevelle received minor styling changes to the exterior and interior. The 1970 Chevelle convertible was one of the rarer Chevelle body styles with only 7,511 examples produced. Period advertising stated, “The performance starts as soon as you’re seated.” Second generation Chevelle production ran through 1972.
This 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS Convertible is presented in red with black racing stripes and a black convertible top. The car rides on Firestone Wide Oval tires which are mounted on SS wheels. Exterior features on the car include a cowl induction hood with hood pins, wheel lip moldings, dual exhaust, and a driver’s sideview mirror. The Chevelle is powered by a 396-cid V-8 engine which is paired to a four-speed manual transmission. Power equipment on the car includes a power convertible top, steering and brakes. The interior is completed in red featuring an AM radio as well as bucket seats separated by a center console.
