For Sale: 1967 Chrysler Imperial in Carson, California

Vehicle Description

Although introduced in 1926 as the top-of-the-line Chrysler, it wasn't until 1955 that the Imperial was split off from Chrysler proper and made into its own luxury marque. Production of Imperials continued as a standalone brand and in 1967 the third generation of the Imperial line was introduced. Although not radically different from previous year's models, the new 1967 Chrysler Imperial came with a shorter wheelbase and did away with the body-on-frame design of old in favor of a new unibody construction, however, Despite these changes the Imperial remained a dedicated luxury car as sales advertisements called the new 1967 Imperial the 'newest prestige car in a decade.' According to its fender tag, this 1967 Chrysler Imperial Crown Coupe was a special order car and is equipped with a 440ci V8 engine producing 350 horsepower and 480 ft. lbs. of torque coupled to a Torqueflite 3-speed automatic transmission. In keeping with its emphasis as a luxury car, this Crown Coupe was ordered with front and rear air conditioning, Tilt-A-Scope steering wheel, remote trunk release, rear armrest with ashtray, Safeguard Sentinel Lighting, passenger side outside mirror, and tinted glass all around. Standard features for Crown Coupes included refinements such as leather interior, six-way power front seats, power windows, power steering, power disc brakes, and real walnut interior accents, among many others. Each door even has its own glove compartment underneath the armrests. Originally ordered with Cinnamon Gold metallic paint, this Crown Coupe now sports a full color change to a tasteful brown metallic that shows well. Inside the Imperial, the interior shows some wear but has held up very well over the years, and the seats remain comfortable and plush with no tears and the headliner is in excellent shape. Rounding out the features, the car rides on a set of 235/75R15 narrow whitewall tires mounted to the stock wheels finished with original Imperial hubcaps. The big 440 fires up easily, idles smoothly and makes for effortless cruising, and as part of Chrysler's flagship line, this Imperial Crown Coupe would be a great addition to anybody's collection as a distinctive vintage luxury cruiser that is rarer than the Lincoln's and Cadillac's of the era. This Chrysler Imperial Crown Coupe is as unique as it was in 1967, possibly even more so given the passage of time.
