A recent restoration with fewer than 200 miles since completion, this 1935 Ford Model 48 Convertible Sedan reflects the passion, detail, and professionalism of its current caretaker, former Commissioner of the Professional Golfers Association (PGA) Deane Beman. Working on and leading this project with an eye for detail, Mr. Beman personally spent eight years completing the frame-off restoration project.
On the exterior, the paintwork was professionally completed at a cost of more than $14,000. The high quality LaBaron-Bonney-upholstered interior complements the overall detailed nature of the restoration. Currently, the vehicle has a dual exhaust but will be sold with an original factory exhaust. The original radio has not been rebuilt or installed but will be included in the sale.
From 1974 to 1994, Deane Beman served as the Commissioner of the PGA. Mr. Beman’s love for the game of golf allowed him to help promote and grow the game in the modern era of television through initiatives such as the Player’s Championship, the Senior PGA Tour, and the Presidents Cup. As a player, Mr. Beman’s highlights include winning the British Amateur in 1959, the U.S. Amateur in 1960 and 1963, and multiple international competitions, in addition to being a four-time winner on the PGA Tour. Mr. Beman was on the cover of Sports Illustrated in September 1961 and was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2000. In 2007, he received the PGA Lifetime Achievement Award for all of his contributions to the game of golf.
