Vehicle Description
This 1920 Nash 685 4-Passenger Coupe, #168549, underwent a nearly two year restoration and according to the consignor is an “exceptional motorcar” and “1 of 1” known to exist. For 91 years, this car was owned by the same family that purchased the vehicle new. Arthur Stanley Little of New London, New Hampshire was the general manager of the Kearsage Telephone Company and purchased the car from the F.W. Sanborn dealership; the car was put into service to inspect and help maintain the telephone lines. Despite being a service vehicle, it was retired with only 30,000 miles and was treated exceptionally well as no evidence of mechanical failure was found during the restoration.
Mr. Little felt an attachment to the vehicle after its days of service were over, keeping it in storage through the end of WWII. Rescued unharmed from a fire in the storage facility, this Nash Coupe was then taken by Mr. Little’s daughter to her barn. Recognizing the importance of the car, she did not want to see it lost forever. Finally in August of 2011, the right owner was found for this coupe through the AMC/Rambler Club and an extensive two-year restoration was undertaken, restoring this special automobile to its former glory.
