1965 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 Tribute in Charlotte, North Carolina

Vehicle Description

This is an all-around track day stunner, that you can also hang a license plate off the rear end. With a 347 stroker V8, five-speed, upgraded suspension, and four-wheel disc brakes wrapped in the GT350 appearance, this 1965 Ford Mustang fastback is going to turn some heads as it shows them its taillights.

See that deep cutout in the front bumper. Yep, this is not meant to be any old GT350 tribute, but a GT350 R – as in RACING. And more than just appearance, this one is ready to knock out some seriously quick lap times, but more on that in a bit. Right now just take some time to appreciate how straight every panel is on this fierce fastback Mustang. You can just tell by how the accent line runs from the headlight, over the doors, and onto the rear fender in one unbroken motion. It makes for a great canvas to paint the iconic Wimbledon White and blue striped package. In fact, so much was invested in the paint and body alone, we bet you'll love this just for a show car. But it would be a shame if you bought this just for its looks, because the hood scoop and racing wheels are there for more than just show.

Inside there's plenty more race-ready components. It starts with a pair of Cobra racing seats, each with RCI five-point harnesses. You get a Lecarra sports steering wheel with the metal and wood pattern that's reminiscent of the best Shelbys, and beyond that is a full set of SW gauges. A Hurst shifter is a must in a car like this, and you might have now caught sight of the extra gear. The door panels, carpets, and dash could give the impression of a nice stock Mustang, but the full roll cage running through the interior is another reminder it's a competition-grade coupe.

Under the hood is a race-ready 302 cubic inch V8 that's been stroked to 347 ci total. It's been enhanced further with performance components such as high performance aluminum heads, Holley double-pumper four-barrel carburetor, high capacity Moroso oil pan, and JBS headers feeding the H-pipe exhaust that bellows out of side pipes. The Super T5 five-speed has a Cobra clutch for added strength, and it sends power to a stout Detroit Locker Ford 9-inch rear end. This was an engineer's project, so you will see meticulous detail in making it feel tight on the track. So take some time to look at the undercarriage shots where you're going to spot some great components. For example, the front suspension has been completely upgraded, including Global West front A-arms and a thick anti-roll bar. In the rear there's adjustable rear coilovers and a Martz four-link set up with panhard bar and cross brace. Making sure the stopping was in line with all these upgrades, there's now an SSBC Force 10 four-wheel disc brake package with slotted rotors. And the reason why all these components look so good is there's less than 1,600 miles on the build.

Are you starting to get the picture on this one? It looks like a GT350, but its been expertly built to run circles around them on the track. So no matter if you are on the street or strip, this the most fun you can have in a fastback. Call today!!
