Welcome to StreetDreamsTexas as we celebrate our 17th year in the classic and muscle car business. There are legends, and then there are Legends. 1961 Impala SS 409 Bubbletop...Legend. Our featured car is a fine tribute to the iconic Chevy immortalized by The Beach Boys in their song, "She's Real Fine, My 409". This beast is "motorvated" by a .060" over 409 filled with a steel crank, Ross forged pistons, an Isky hydraulic roller cam, and Crane "Gold" aluminum rockers with a 1.7:1 ratio. The cylinder heads are GM 409 "690" castings featuring stainless steel intake and exhaust valves as well as Crane coated roller valve springs. Induction chores are handled by two Edelbrock 600 cfm carbs atop a GM "snowflake" aluminum intake manifold, while a nice set of Doug's headers keep things moving downstream. Horsepower is routed through a Richmond 5-speed and back to a Ford 9" rear end stuffed with a US Gear ring and pinion with a Trac-Loc positraction assembly. Four-wheel disc brakes are a welcome upgrade when the radar detector sounds! This is a piece of American automotive history that's sure to put a smile on your face!
