For Sale: 1963 Volvo P1800 Jensen in Lutz, Florida

Vehicle Description

Whether you're a fan of Roger Moore as The Saint or just like owning something distinct, this 1963 Volvo P1800 is quite an attractive buy. With a high degree of preservation and restoration, this coupe is believed to be on its original motor, and it even includes an overdrive transmission. So it's a thoroughbred interesting European at a very affordable price.

Italian style with Swedish sensibilities made the P1800 an instant icon. The reason the P1800 is so coveted is it carries a higher level of craftsmanship. You can see it in the profile. The full-length trim line has starts at the rounded front end and has a kick-up in the door panel, which the kind of expensive and time-consuming manufacturing that could only come from choosing artistry over efficiency. It ends as part of the integrated hint of tailfin at the rear. The full effect is something both masculine and beautiful all at the same time. While the all P1800s are valued collectables today, there are some distinguishing factors that make this one a rare standout. First of all, it's part of the initial run of Jensen-built coupes. Not only does it give the Volvo an interesting Italian-Swedish-English triple play for its design, engineering, and production, but also that makes the car 1 of 6,000 produced. It's this interesting history that has kept this a cherished classic with the body nicely presented in its original color scheme and complete chrome trim. Even the red accents in the hubcaps are up to original spec.

The hint of red on the exterior is a great introduction to the interior. The red vinyl covers the doors, seats, center console, and dash. The color feels just as elegant as aggressive thanks to their fresh materials. When you slip behind the original steering wheel that's re-wrapped in leather, the exterior feeling of artistry returns. The wraparound steel dashboard looks fantastic and it's home to all the essential components, including the large Smiths speedometer (auxiliary gauges have also been cleanly installed under the dash to keep you fully informed.)

Under the hood is the correct 1.8-liter motor. Not only does it look great with its red block, bright valve cover, and dual carbs, but the consigner also believes this to be the original motor. You can see from the tidy belts, wires, and hoses that this has received proper maintenance, which is also why the engine fires up with such eagerness. This is mated to a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive for easy driving. In fact, the P1800 is a great grand touring machine. The engine is not built for all-out speed, and so the suspension is tuned to ride better than most vintage sports cars you know. Add in front disc brakes, and this P1800 is actually the comfortable classic you can take for a cruise anywhere.

Complete with owner's manual, the Volvo P1800 is one of those interesting classics that will always turn heads. So when you can find a turnkey ready car that's this affordable, you need to jump at the chance. Call today!!!
