For Sale: 1935 Adler Trumpf Junior in Scottsdale, Arizona

Vehicle Description

When launched at the start of 1934 Adler Trumpf Juniors came with a choice between a small two door “Limousine” (sedan/saloon) and a small two door “Cabrio-Limousine” which was effectively a two door sedan/saloon with a canvas foldable roof. In 1935 Adler added this beautiful streamlined 2 seater Sports Model to the already popular Trumpf Junior range of cars. The Trumpf, a brainchild of Adlerwerke’s former technical director Hans Gustav Röhr, started its development in 1932. Three years later, it provided a platform for the fantastic Spezial Monoposto racer. As you can see the car is quite aerodynamic compared to other cars of that era. The aerodynamics of the car were likely penned by Baron Reinhard von Koenig-Fachsenfeld who had worked with airplanes and also applied aerodynamics to racing cars of the 1930’s. The louvres at the bottom of the body are intended to let the air flow through rather than trapping it within the body. The Trumpf bodies were Coach built body by Omnibud in Berlin. Adler Trumpf Junior Sports models had other amazing differences when compared to most pre-war cars. The 4 speed front wheel drive transaxle is placed in front of the 995cc engine allowing the car to be dropped down inside the frame instead of resting on top like other cars. This front mid-engine arrangement lets the car have a flat floor, with no tunnel and sit remarkably low for improved handling and aerodynamics. Adler also designed the car with 4 wheel independent suspension, aerodynamic wheels, a folding top that stows out of sight behind the seats and an in dash Tempometer – thought to be an early trip computer! Adler also built 3 single seater Monopostos based on the Trumpf Junior Sports Model that averaged 106 kmph for a 16,000 km endurance test, proving reliability. These cars then went on to race quite competitively. This particular Trumpf Junior Sports Model has documentation back to the original purchase and was recently lovingly restored by Adler enthusiasts in Germany. This is one beautiful and unique car that really must be seen to appreciate how special it is. The car is complete with a new top, side curtains and factory owner’s manual in English.
