Vehicle Description
My wife and I are moving back to Philadelphia and are selling our 1970 Volkswagen Westfalia. We are the 3rd owner and have had the van for about 8 years. We've invested over $10,000 in maintenance and repairs. We are looking for someone who is in the VW culture and who appreciates these excellent vehicles and perhaps works on them. Being 46 years old, there are a scratches and dings but all in all, it is a great van. I've listed below what we've done in regards to maintenance to the van and have receipts that go all the way back to 1997. Most of the repairs listed below where completed all at once at The Bus Lab in Berkeley California.
Other features include 3 point front seat belts that were installed and two lap belts for the bench seat in back. There are a few things that need to be completed to make the van 100% whole. The pushrod tubes need to be replaced and it has a slow oil leak. (shocker!) Since the last time it was inspected in December of 2015, I've only had to add a half a quart of oil. Also, the left front brake pads need replacing. The van comes with a CD/Radio player but the front speakers need to be replaced. The front seats will eventually need to be reupholstered and repadded. I'm got sheepskin covers in the meantime as you can see from the pictures. New driver side door seals are needed. Finally, two small cabinet knobs need to be replaced. The camper canvas and top are in good condition with no rips, tears etc. There is no rust on the undercarriage and the tires are in good condition. The van drives very well and even at 70 mph, it is smooth with no rattling at all. It a great van. It could use a detailing. We just don't have the time or money due to our move. We are just looking for someone who will appreciate it and will continue to enjoy their investment. Trafton auto in Gresham is our mechanic. We've had a number of things completed by them and are great mechanics.
