1978 Excalibur Phaeton Series III
A beautiful and very limited production 1978 Excalibur Phaeton. The Excalibur was loosely modeled along the lines of the elegant 1928 Mercedes SSK. First designed in 1963 the car went through a number of changes and reached the production phase beginning in 1965.
The magnificent Series III that we have is finished in a very attractive light yellow, with a tan interior featuring custom light yellow seat inserts and matching piping. Included is a full canvas removable top as well as a full tonneau cover, although the car looks superb when it is shown fully open!
Powered by a Mark IV 454 CI Chevrolet engine ( yes, a Big Block!) mounted to a reinforced ladder frame this elegantly styled automobile has a GM Turbo Hydramatic 3 speed automatic Transmission for effortless driving and proven reliability. Now you see why we have the car here, as it is essentially a Corvette drivetrain and suspension underneath.
The car truly looks simply like old world luxury, but this exceptional example has only been driven 6,500 miles. Originally a Florida car, it has been updated and maintained in enthusiast condition, and is ready now for the next discriminating owner.
This car is one of only 263 produced by Excalibur that year, and therefore is one of the most unique and stylish cars available that is also relatively easy to maintain and have repaired yet looks like a true classic.
