DeTomaso introduced their new mid-engined sports car, the Pantera, in 1971 as a replacement to the Mangusta. The car featured coachwork by the Italian design firm Ghia. The cars utilized a ZF transaxle and a Ford powerplant. The Panteras were sold in the United States through Lincoln Mercury dealerships. The last Pantera was delivered in 1992. Over the course of the production run, roughly 7,000 examples were produced.
This 1972 De Tomaso Pantera has been recently repainted in the rare factory color Verde (V307). The car rides on Goodyear Arriva tires mounted on Campagnolo wheels. The Pantera is powered by a freshly rebuilt 351-cid (Cleveland), 330-hp V-8 engine. The engine is paired to five-speed manual transmission which features a new clutch and flywheel. Additional work on the car includes a new master and slave cylinders, battery, belts, hoses and radiator. The interior is completed in black with original seat upholstery as well as new carpet and headliner. Additional interior features include air conditioning, Veglia gauges and a period Becker radio.
This is reported to be a three-owner West Coast car that has been sparingly driven over its life. Included with the car are the original toolkit, spare, owner’s manual, as well as parts and service manual.
