For Sale: 1938 Packard 1601 in Fredericksburg, Virginia

Vehicle Description

PRICE REDUCTION: 1938 Packard: Luxury and Reliability

All one needs to do is listen (if you can hear it) to this Packard’s engine to know why our ’38 4 door was one of America’s premier cars. Quiet running, smartly styled, elegant interior, smooth to drive: that’s what Packards were known for and what made them “the car of choice” of the rich and famous.

Pampered Since 1938

This 1938 Packard Touring Sedan has been the owners’ pride and joy:

o Dependable straight 8 cylinder engine;
o Manual 3-speed transmission
o Complete repaint in original Gray Metallic;
o Excellent interior;
o Starts at the press of the starter; and
o Stops straight and true.

Excellent from Top to Bottom

• Paint and Body

The re-spray of this Packard in its original Gray Metallic makes it look almost as nice it did when the car was at the Packard dealership in 1938. The unique color contributes to the elegance of this Packard Touring Sedan.

The chrome trim is all in very nice condition, setting off the stateliness of the car.

• Interior

The gray interior is clean and fresh-looking, and as one would expect, the upholstery is free of rips, holes or separations.

The gray headliner is in great condition and the painted dash and interior window trim are in excellent condition.

The gauges all appear to work properly as do the lights, wipers and horn. The speedometer and turn signals likewise work properly.

• Engine

The Packard in-line 8 cylinder engine, for which Packard was known, starts right up and runs so quietly you can barely hear it. At the touch of the switch the engine comes to life and appears to be virtually vibration-free.

• Transmission

The manual, transmission has the floor-mounted shifter with 3 forward speeds. Shifting up and down is smooth without clutch chatter or grinding.

• Brakes

The brakes on the Packard bring it to a quick halt without pulling from side to side..

A Great Example of one of Packard’s Most Popular Sedans

There is one word that can best describe this 1938 Touring Sedan: WOW! Great paint, excellent upholstery, exceptional engine and transmission: all of which make this classic Packard an enjoyable car to drive as well as a sound investment.
