The Durango was built in 1981 to replace the Ford Ranchero. The Ford factory delivered Fairmont Futuras to National Coach Corp. in Gardena Ca. National Coach Corp. modified the body, installing a fiberglass cargo bed behind the front seat. After the conversion, Ford dealers nationwide sold them as a $2500 option. They were powered by the Ford 200ci inline six-cylinder engine. The number built is estimated between 89 and 200.
