Body, Paint, Interior, Engine Compartment, and Suspension - All finished to show-winning standards. This Pantera is finished in brilliant Silver Metallic with an impeccable Black Leather Interior. The slim Euro chrome bumpers and hideaway headlights reinforce the retro look. The 1971-74 DeTomaso Pantera were designed by Ghia and combined Italian exotic sports car styling with a reliable and potent Ford V-8, backed by a 5-speed manual gearbox. This example is a show-stopper, featuring an engine bay that's been beautifully finished, and is replete with polished and chromed componentry throughout, with the centerpiece being the two large polished NOS bottles that are prominently positioned astride the bejeweled powerplant. The Pantera grabbed the attention of the motoring public when new as one of the best examples of Italian design mated to American power, early examples such as this 1974 remind us how clean the original design was. The Pantera has a gorgeous low-slung body from Italy's renowned exotic car styling house, Ghia, and a race-style mid-engine layout. It gave up little to pricey Italian sports cars with its dramatic, wedge-shaped lines, all-independent suspension, all-disc brakes, magnesium wheels and five-speed ZF manual transmission. This Pantera is ready to show, drive and enjoy.View Undercarriage Photos Here...In its day, the Pantera's performance was unprecedented. It still is precipitously fast, even in stock form. However, for some owners, the factory's 300-400 horsepower simply doesn't provide the pinnacle driving pleasure. The previous owner of this particular pristine Pantera preferred more power. Pantera specialists P.I. Motorsports, Inc. performed performance upgrades to all systems and components in this Pantera - The powerplant that P.I. placed, an imposing 427 cubic-inch Ford engine, was professionally ported and polished, and produces approximately 600hp/600lb-ft. Performance parts include; Twin-Tank Nitrous Oxide Injection System NOS, 850 Demon Carb, Hydraulic Roller-Rockers, Forged Crank, 10.5:1 Compression, Victor Jr. Heads and Intake Manifold, the purpose-produced P.I. Motorsports performance headers have been ceramic coated. The ZF Transaxle has also been perfectly polished and the engine bay smoothed and finished to match the practically perfect body paint. Custom drilled/slotted/vented Wilwood brakes with chromed calipers. Polished and chromed suspension, drivetrain, and cooling system components. 18" HRE Forged 2-Piece Wheels, Michelin Pilot Sport Tires. Upgraded electrical system. Performance exhaust and muffler.Enhanced throughout, both performance-wise and aesthetically, this fabulous Pantera features an impeccable custom interior, handcrafted in the finest black leather, that retains the period feel but has modern upgrades for convenience and reliability. The black bucket seats feature Crow racing belts, modern Kenwood audio, center console with gauges, fully carpeted trunk. The Pantera was unveiled at the 1970 New York Auto Show. In 1971, Mr. DeTomaso's company, DeTomaso Automobili, based in Modena, began selling the Pantera, a sports car with the sleek, angular profile of a jet fighter, which had a Ford V-8 placed behind the two-seat passenger compartment. Mr. DeTomaso built the car after being approached by Lee A. Iacocca, then president of the Ford Motor Company. Ford, which had failed in an attempt to buy Ferrari, wanted a high-performance European car for its showrooms. Panteras were sent to select Lincoln-Mercury dealers and they even had Ford Motor's normal warranty. The Pantera was flat-out sensational in the early 1970s. The only rival U.S. sports car was the Chevrolet Corvette, which had over-the-top styling and the same front-engine layout as the original 1953 'Vette. For more information on this fantastic 1974 De Tomaso Pantera, or any of our other 60+ exotic and sports cars always in our inventory, contact one of our friendly and knowledgeable sales consultants or always feel free to drop by our 5-acre Bellevue, WA Park Place Ltd campus - Home to the West Coast's Most Diverse Inventory of Luxury, Exotic, Collectible and Special Interest Automobiles with 200+ Always On Site.
