For Sale: 1993 GMC Typhoon in Kentwood, Michigan

GMC released a limited production example of a high-performance variant of the Jimmy which was aptly named the Typhoon and was produced alongside its counterpart, the Syclone, from 1992-1993. Both models featured a Mitsubishi TD06-17C/8 Turbocharger and a Garrett water and air-cooler which was attached to a 4.3L V6. This combination of performance parts would get the Typhoon pushing 60 mph in 5.7 seconds and a quarter mile in 14.5 seconds straight from the factory. When Car and Driver reviewed the Syclone which had the same engine they favorably compared it to the likes of the Ferrari 348ts, a Corvette and even the 300ZX Turbo. With the Typhoon coming out with an initial sticker just under $30,000, this vehicle gave a lot of bang for its buck.

Keeping comfort in mind for its customers, GMC also made it with items like cruise control, AM/FM/Cassette media center, tilt steering, power windows and locks which are all fully functioning and the Borg Warner AWD which is said to have a transfer case that can split the torque from 35% forward and 65% to the rear wheels. With only around 2,200 produced for the 1993 model, less than 125 of those being the white exterior with grey interior and even less coming available unmolested and from the same owner since new, this is a real find!
