Vehicle Description
The 1955 MG TF 1500 Roadster is an important car as if marked the
end of the legendary MG "T" series that was launched 19 years
earlier in 1936 as the MG TA Midget. Although the styling cues
remained quite similar throughout the "T" generations, the TF
Roadster was far more advanced than any of the previous models.
Most noticeable in styling difference from the previous TD, is the
shorter grill, raked radiator, headlights now are integrated into
the fenders, re-designed rear bonnet, and the seating a bit more
spacious and comfortable. The TF Debuted in the US in 1953 with
much success, however, it was not long before MG fans were looking
for more power, something capable of keeping up with the Triumph
TR2 or the Austin-Healy 100. This did not go on deaf ears. For
model year 1955, the TF upgraded its engine from the proven XPAG
1250 cc engine to a far more powerful XPEG 1500 cc engine; Hence
the TF 1500 designation. The MG TF 1500, was only built for 1955,
the last year for the "T" cars. The popular and completely
redesigned MGA would follow.

According to the "T-Register" This TF1500 was built on November 11,
1954 on Chassis TF7947 with Engine XPEG/1748. The vehicle has had a
total of three owners, the first drove the car just 19000 miles
until putting the car into long term storage. The car changed hands
for the first time in the mid 1990's to where, with the support of
MG specialist John Twist and TF Expert Paul Probst, was treated to
a targeted and well executed restoration with great attention to
detail as well as great attention to mechanical fitness. The car
was finished in its original color and still retains the original
numbers matching engine and drivetrain. After the restoration was
completed, the car was cared for, enjoyed and driven an additional
10000 miles until sold in 2014 where the car was again, driven,
cared for and maintained until the current mileage. Today, the car
remains in wonderful overall condition. Mechanically the car is
fully sorted and recently completed a 1900 mile road trip as well
as being driven to us from Atlanta, GA. The car is off a fresh
service performed by MG Guru, John Twist of University Motors in
Grand Rapids, MI. Hands down, this TF is the best driving T-series
MG that we have had on our floor. The restoration is now 20 years
old and has held up remarkably well in all areas.
The MG TF1500 is considered the crown jewel of the long run of
T-Series cars. By far the most advanced in design and performance.
Only offered one year of production, the TF1500's are quite rare
and remain extremely desirable among British motoring enthusiast
and collectors alike. Their appeal is global and an example such as
this possessing both restoration quality and mechanical fitness is
