Vehicle Description
1968 Pontiac LeMans Sport Coupe- Ordered in 1967 by a Utah engineer, who specified most unusual options including 350 V-8, power steering, power disc brakes, Safe-T-Track differential (positraction), FACTORY AIR CONDITIONING, bucket seats, AM-FM radio, Rally II Wheels, custom seat belts, floor mats, dual exhaust, tinted glass, vinyl top, and most unusual is the 3-speed manual transmission with console-mounted factory Hurst shifter. Car was babied by the original owner including putting plastic over the carpets and door grab handles, as well as a protective coating in the trunk to avoid rust from moisture build-up under the rubber trunk mat. Everything that was done to the car, including adding gas, was noted in a maintenance book, and quite a bit was TYPED on an old manual typewriter.
Car has 56K actual miles as noted on the title. It was kept in the original owner's family until 2008 when a Pontiac collector in the east bought it from them. At that time, it was professionally refinished in the original color of Verdoro Green and a GTO hood was added. The interior, trunk compartment, spare tire, and vinyl top are all original and in excellent condition. Car drives smooth and tight just like you would expect.
Included with this well-preserved original includes the Pontiac Historical Documentation, window sticker, original Utah license tag, the above-mentioned maintenance book, and a host of extra keys. Also is included is a polite letter from Jay Leno turning down the family's proposal of sale of this car to him.
