For Sale: 1960 Diamond T Fire Truck in Jefferson, Wisconsin

This is a model 920 Diamond T, one of the very first produced in 1960, powered by Detroit 6-71 diesel and equipped with Van Pelt apparatus. It was utilized by the Hellsgate Fire Brigade from Tonto Village, AZ as a forest fire fighter. This is the Hose Monster! Well, there are no hoses. I don’t if it will pump. It has all the valves, gauges, etc. It is a parade truck. In fact, the most recent owner enjoyed participating in both 2013 and 2015 Chicago Blackhawks Victory Parades. There is even YouTube video of the truck in the parade. He spent lots of time, energy and money to make it reliable, safe and road worthy. He succeeded! We drove it 300 miles. It is very comfortable at 60mph. At that speed, the engine is at 2000 rpm. The original Detroit was replaced in 1970 or 71 with a new crate motor. It is the 4 valve version. It is blown, but not turbo-charged. It has been adjusted and maintained. It literally starts at the push of a button. The 5 speed transmission shifts perfectly. When you consider the mileage is actual and under 35,000, it should. We found receipts that suggest the rear end was recently serviced and new seals installed. The Air compressor was rebuilt (this truck has air brakes), new belts/hoses installed, new brakes and radial tires. All in the past five years. All lights function. The siren wails. the vents open. This is a “roadster cab”, so there have never been door windows. The gauges work. It has never been rusty, or seen bad weather. That means the effort to keep it maintained is much easier. The fluids were recently changed. It is turn-key and road worthy. The batteries are new. This is a great parade vehicle. It is quite capable of traveling many miles to reach an event. Low gear will allow it to creep along during a parade. This truck has great history, great maintenance and great look. It is very muscular and will dominate the attention of on-lookers. I find the driving experience to be exhillerating. I hope you are as excited about the Hose Monster as I am. My plans are to drive it around and show it off. But that pleasure can be yours.
