JUST REDUCED: A Restored 1964 Ford Galaxie 500 Convertible The Galaxie convertible is one of the most nostalgic cars of the ‘60s and our ’64 convertible stands out for a number of reasons: • Restored for beauty and reliability; • 352 “Thunderbird” V-8 with Ford dress-up kit; • Finished in Rangoon Red; • Automatic transmission; and • Power steering and brakes. For those of you who would like to decode the VIN, it is: 4E65X265254. Paint and Chrome This car has a very nice respray in its Rangoon Red finish. The chrome and stainless are in very good condition, with some pitting on the trim pieces. This Galaxie has rear fender skirts that add to the look of sleekness that these cars were famous for. The underside is in good but not perfect condition. Interior The white vinyl seat upholstery is in very good condition and shows extremely well. Likewise, the white convertible top is in excellent condition and operates correctly. Engine The engine in this Galaxie is the optional 352 “Thunderbird Special”, and it starts and runs properly. During the engine rebuild, we understand that it was set up to run on lead-free gasoline. The engine compartment is fully detailed and the 352 has Ford’s chrome dress-up kit. Despite its quickness, it is smooth-running and a pleasure to drive. Transmission The car has an automatic transmission that shifts properly and effortlessly. Tires, Brakes, Comfort and Safety Systems The car is equipped with four narrow whitewall 215/75R14 tires mounted with period correct spinner wheel covers. There is, of course, power steering and power brakes to make driving—and stopping—effortless. The safety equipment (lights, horn, wipers and turn signals) all work. The car’s convertible top was replaced and the top and rear window are in good condition. The lowering/raising mechanism works properly.
