drive MotoeXotica is offering this 1968 BSA Thunderbolt 650
'parallel' twin motorcycle in Silver and Black frame. This is the
true classic British enthusiast's bike, residing with the same
owner for 6 years! Finished in a dramatic Silver metallic finish
black frame with brilliant period wire wheels. BSA (Birmingham
Small Arms) introduced their unit-construction 650 parallel twin in
1962. The 654cc machine started life as the A65 Star basic model,
with various offshoots developing through the decade. The single-
carburetor Thunderbolt fulfilled more of an everyday, touring role,
and by 1968 it sported 12-Volt electrics, a Concentric carburetor,
two-way fork damping and a three-spring clutch to go with its
four-speed gearbox. The 75mm by 64mm motor typically ran 9:1
compression to produce 42bhp at 6800rpm. Fully fuelled with four
gallons of gas the bike weighed nearly 400lb, so its top speed was
slightly less than the 100mph mark, with a standing quarter taking
15.5 seconds or so. In 1968, the Thunderbolt would go from zero to
60mph in 7.4 seconds. The twin-carburetor conversion for the same
year Thunderbolt (like the example has) was quicker,15.29 seconds
to cover a standing quarter mile and with a 102mph top velocity.
This BSA Thunderbolt is equipped with a 654cc OHV parallel twin
engine fed by a upgraded dual carburetor set-up from a BSA
Lightning. Power is transferred to the rear wheel by a 4-speed
manual gearbox to chain final drive. Rider assist features include
front disc and rear drum brakes. Cafe racer related accessories
include a single hump race clubman seat and Black Ace handle bars.
The rims are 18-inch stainless steel spokes surrounded with
staggered Continental tires. This 1968 BSA Thunderbolt is a mild
British cafe racer conversion Own a piece of motorcycling history
from the other side of the pond. If you close your eyes you can
almost hear the Beatles singing in the distance. This would be a
great conversation piece or for tooling around on a Sunday
afternoon. Very few of these BSA are still around. Don't miss out
on this one! GET OUT AND DRIVE!!!...er, RIDE!!! Current mileage on
the odometer shows 0 miles. Motorcycle is sold as is with a mileage
exempt title. VIN:A65TB779 Note: Please see full terms and
