For Sale: 1965 Ford Mustang in Jefferson, Wisconsin

Vehicle Description

I am not a Mustang expert, by any stretch. but my good friend from Kansas is. He bought this very original and correct 64 1/2 Mustang convertible for his wife. I was there when he did! Unfortunately, they divorced. I liked the car so well that I was honored to have the chance to own it. With his assistance, I learned of the unique characteristics to the 64.5 Mustangs. This car has all it should. It just hasn’t been messed with. Even the original AM radio is in the trunk. I liked the car because it has the highest powered available. The D-code 289 runs great and still sports the original Autolite carburetor and correct air cleaner. Not only is this a high performance convertible, it has factory air-conditioning. This is evident, as the console is shortened for cars with air-conditioning. It seems odd to have air-conditioning on a convertible. But not if you lived in Albuquerque, NM and were ordering your dream car. We gave the original Owners Manual and Warranty Card to tell us this. Much better than a Marti Report! In 1981 it was sold to a man from Illinois. He kept it for 34 years until my Kansas friend bought it. These two were in contact and shared information. The Wimbleton White paint appears to be original, but it seems hard to believe it is. If it was repainted, it was done prior to 1981. In 1985, the top and carpet were replaced. The upholstery is original. Other than split seams at the shoulders which we recently fixed, the upholstery is wonderful. There is no rust on this car. The body is excellent. The paint has plenty of chips and light scratches. I like the “patina” it exhibits. The chrome and glass are also very nice. The trunk is original. It contains original insulation, trunk mat, boards and spare tire. The original jack is in the proper storage bag. The original parade boot is present, but has a hole worn. The new replacement and correct pads are present. The engine performs exceptionally well. It has recently been tuned. The carburetor was rebuilt. The power is surprising. Other than the horn not blowing, all features function properly. The freon needs to be replenished for the A/C. The original keys unlock the doors and trunk. All lights and gauges work properly. I have learned to appreciate this car. I love the originality and unique characteristics. I believe the options make it desirable on top of being rare. Mustang lovers will certainly appreciate this and all car lovers will appreciate the quality.
