For Sale: 1964 Pontiac GTO in Portland, Oregon

Vehicle Description

For Sale: 1964 Pontiac GTO coupe.

Same owner since 1986.

This is a genuine numbers-matching 1964 GTO that I purchased from the original owner in 1986.
I have had this GTO for 30 years.

The car was all-original, numbers matching, original paint, when I bought it.
The car had never been modified or abused in any way.
The car was in its original factory configuration:
Cameo White body & roof.
389 4bbl automatic.
Black interior.
Factory bucket seats & console.
Power steering.
Power windows, w/ tinted glass.
Factory “dog dish” hubcaps & steel wheels.
AM radio

Please read carefully, there is a lot of information and history here.
History:
I always kept the car in our home garage, and used it for car shows & cruising.
In the late 1990s, I put the car into indoor storage, while other priorities of life took all my attention.
The car was in excellent shape during these years of storage.
In 2006, we discovered the roof had leaked in the storage building, and the dampness had caused the original paint to deteriorate. There was no rust, just cosmetic issues with the original paint.
So we decided to restore the car.
The restoration started out as just a re-paint job.
The shop that started the work, was found to be doing work I did not authorize, so I removed the GTO from that shop.
The second shop started out good, but it ended up that I was paying them, and the work was not being done at all. They went out of business, and again I removed the GTO.
I took the GTO to a third shop, which was highly recommended.
They did a great job, very high quality.
At that point we decided to do a frame-off, since the car was already apart. Work proceeded, and the results were great.
However, after having the car in three different shops, I found myself in a difficult situation. I was spending money to do things over that I had paid for, but were not done at all, or they were done poorly, and I had to pay more to fix them.
After spending MANY thousands of dollars and several years of effort, sadly I am unable to finish this car. I do not have the money or the patience to finish it.

Current status:
The car is in GREAT condition, has had a high quality frame-off restoration, and is ready for paint.
This GTO still has ALL its original factory sheet metal.
The trunk, trunk floor, frame, floors, rockers, doors, hood, fenders and body components, are all original.
NO reproduction sheet metal was used on this car.
There were only a few very small patches that were needed. The car was essentially a rust-free all original GTO.
The frame was powder-coated.
The frame was straight and rust-free, NO damage, NO straightening required.
The rear end was gone through, and refinished.
The transmission was rebuilt, and refinished.
The front suspension was replaced, and detailed.
Both bumpers have been re-chromed. They were rust-free.
Original rocker trim was perfect, and has been polished.
The original interior comes with the car.
It is in very nice original condition, and I was planning to keep the nice original interior, and just replace the headliner & carpet.
Console is mint.
Original bucket seats are great.
The original 389 engine is still untouched, all-original, never been apart. It probably needs to be gone through, but it ran great when the restoration was started. The engine has always been stored INDOORS in heated shops all this time, it turns freely.
A prospective buyer came and inspected the car last week. WE turned the engine for him, it turns freely.

So, all the major work has been done on this great GTO.
I have over $40K invested in this GTO.
And the receipts prove it.
This is a great, easy to finish project, on an original matching-numbers 1964 GTO.
The next owner of this GTO is getting a tremendous deal, since I have done so much work on it. Pick your color, paint the car, and finish the assembly of the interior & trim.

Please note: the car does roll and steer, but is not running. There will be many boxes of parts, and parts in the trunk, and parts in the car.

The car is ready for paint.
I did not paint it, so the next owner can choose his color.

At this point, the car needs: paint, engine gone through, and finish the assembly of all the trim, interior, install glass, new tires, and new exhaust.
There are many boxes of parts that come with the car.
All the parts are there.
I cannot guarantee every nut and bolt is there, but all the original parts are there and in great condition.
I have the original mint 4-bbl. chrome air cleaner, the original chrome valve covers, the original mint console, all the glass, and power windows, etc.
Sorry, I do not have a lift, and cannot get good photos of the underside of the car.
The frame and underside are BEAUTIFUL, all refinished.
