Vehicle Description
This 1916 Dodge Touring is being offered for sale at NO RESERVE from the Leroy Hunter Collection. Leroy Hunter was a well-known and respected collector within the vintage automobile community in Maine for decades. Due to his declining health, this 1916 Dodge sat in storage on the Hunter farm in recent years. After removal from storage and a little general cleaning, this vehicle started up and ran well, a testament to Mr. Hunter's meticulous nature. Overall, this vehicle is still in very good condition and has been run minimally after removal from storage. The interior is well maintained and in good condition considering it is the original interior from 1916. The car has been repainted in years past. Mr. Hunter used this car often on tours and for display at shows; one of the plaques even shows that it has been coming to the Owls Head Transportation Museum since 1976. The period-correct, windshield-mounted spotlight still works. From the Leroy Hunter Collection Leroy Hunter was a farm boy, working the same fields his family had worked since the early 1900s and that his sons continue to work today. When he and his wife took over the farm in May of 1947, he set to work making it into an efficient agricultural endeavor, winning awards for innovation in soil conservation, forest preservation, herd maintenance, and more. This passion for life translated into his love of classic automobiles, and both his sense of adventure and his dedication to quality are present in the vehicles he maintained. Mr. Hunter was well respected by his community and peers, and was a loving supporter of the Owls Head Transportation Museum. Now is your opportunity to own one of the classic pieces from the eclectic and all-American Hunter Collection.
