Custom choppers are basically the street rods of the motorcycle world. They're great to look at and fun for short cruises, but their usefulness as proper vehicles fades as the odometer rises. In short: if you want a head-turning bike that's good for road-tripping, you'll need a more refined piece – one capable of providing a comfortable ride and good ergonomics over any distance. That's why, despite the plethora of custom builders that appeared and disappeared over the last decade, bikes like this sweet Screamin' Eagle V-Rod continue to sell like hotcakes. Pairing a polished appearance with modern touring technology and a 120 horsepower Revolution V-Twin, this Harley doesn't skimp on visual cues or the ability to put wind in your sails. And if you're looking for a refreshing way to experience the open road, it's the perfect opportunity to grab a handsome steed, join the Harley Owners Group and enjoy a new favorite pastime!

HISTORY

Loosely based on the VR-1000 superbike, and primarily developed as Harley's answer to Japanese and American muscle bikes, the VRSC was introduced back in 2001. Most notably the V-Rod, as it would come to be known, utilized an overhead cam liquid-cooled V-Twin engine that was developed with the help of Porsche. Over the years, Harley has expanded the marque's model range to include a variety of themed offerings. This Screamin' Eagle VRSCSE, unique to the 2005 model year, combines custom paint and a roster of chrome with a 'big bore' 1,250cc Revolution engine that features CNC-ported heads. And, according to Harley, it's 1 of only 2,400 VRSCSEs assembled by the firm's Milwaukee-based Custom Vehicle Operations team.

APPEARANCE

Naturally, since this V-Rod is a Harley-Davidson, it comes factory-equipped with timeless good looks. At the front of the bike, a small, Electric Orange fender leads the eye to a custom airbox cover, which stacks LED telemetry on a custom console. Specific to the Screamin' Eagle V-Rod, that attractive shroud flows into a custom seat and custom passenger pillion. That branded leather rolls over a second small fender that's centered on a polished, jewel-cut tail lamp. And overall, this bike features a sporty, professional appearance that's sure to age just as well as its high quality components.

ACCESSORIES

Harley's excellent ability to mix timeless aesthetics with proven technology creates plenty of rider-friendly features that make owning this bike a very pleasant experience. Up front, a dressed and polished fork hangs chrome triple trees, smoked turn signals and a Screamin' Eagle headlight beneath a polished riser and 1.25-inch 'fat' handlebars. Those bars center spun aluminum-faced gauges between flamed grips, chrome controls and chromed billet mirrors. Those controls jolt a drilled, 3-disc brake system, which achieves confidence-inducing stops via braided lines, braided cables and polished calipers. Between those brakes, a color-keyed grille and polished pegs lead the eye to a polished kickstand, a custom clutch cover, a cool Screamin' Eagle horn cover and big Vance & Hines pipes. And just above those pipes, chrome turn signals illuminate polished shocks, a custom tag bracket and a stylish Reactor sprocket.

SUSPENSION

Look under this V-Rod's striking Black and Electric Orange bodywork and you'll find a rigid frame that's crafted to handle the rigors of extended cruising. All of that powder-coated skeleton's electrical components are artfully hidden to ensure a premium appearance and excellent fit and finish. A communicative ride comes courtesy of forged Reactor wheels, which spin premium 120/70ZR19 Avon Cobras in front of first class 180/55ZR18 Avon Cobras. And naturally, the bike's steering and maneuverability is specifically tuned to create a unique riding experience for each individual.

DRIVETRAIN

Drivetrains are always the focal point of world class road warriors, and this awesome 2-wheeler boasts a 1,250cc Revolution twin cam that sits in Harley's traditional V-Twin configuration. Presently, the tuned Screamin' Eagle mill utilizes CNC-ported heads, optimized cam timing, electronic sequential port fuel injection and a familiar K&N air filter to turn stout 11.5 to 1 compression into 120 rear-wheel horsepower. Behind that top notch motor, a proven 5-speed transmission is poised to provide years of solid and reliable shifts. And the addition of a fresh clutch, which sports less than 200 miles, makes transitions faster and smoother.
