Vehicle Description
Offered here is a stock 1950 Chevy Thriftmaster Pickup. The current owner purchased it from from his Father in the 1970's in Ojai, California north of Los Angeles. He claims the truck has always been garaged for the last 30 years in Ojai's dry weather environment. His local classic car mechanic states the truck is one of the most solid vehicles he has worked on.
The truck runs a straight six engine matched to a manual transmission. The electrical system remains 6 volt but on recommendation from his mechanic, he installed an 8 volt battery and the truck starts flawlessly. Prior paint is presentable but not perfect which makes this truck a great driver. The chrome is very nice. All door and window rubber appear to be original. Paint bubbling was noticed on the back cab bead. The inside driver's side floor pan has a few small rust-through holes. (see photos) The bed hardwood was replaced in the past and remains in good condition. All sides of the bed and tailgate are in great shape showing very little wear or use. The truck was most likely used as a light delivery truck or grocery-getter. The owner claims the truck runs great mechanically and all gauges are in working condition with exception of the interior dome light which will need repair. The odometer reads 56k miles but the owner can't guarantee that they are the original miles. The vehicle runs on larger 1967 rims with beauty rings which makes it sit nicely.
