The initial Prowler design is credited to a Chrysler-sponsored project at the Art Center College of Design that resulted in a thesis by Douglas "Chip" Foose of the television show "Overhaulin" that included drawings of a retro-roadster. One of the most striking design features of the Prowler are the open, Indy  racer-style front wheels. For the 1999 model year, the engine was replaced with a more powerful, aluminum-block, 253 hp 3.5 liter version.This engine was coupled to a four-speed Autostick semi-automatic transmission. The transmission was located at the rear of the vehicle and joined to the engine by a torque tube that rotated at engine speed, and helped to facilitate a desirable 50-50 front-rear weight distribution. The design included styled exhaust commonly found in hot rods from the 1950s. Finished in a brilliant Prowler Red the paint is in excellent condition. The front and rear satin grey bumpers are in fantastic condition, as is the front grill.The black soft top fit is tight and in great condition including the glass rear window is in excellent condition. All trim pieces are present and have a great finish. The headlights and taillights are in very condition. The matching trailer has the same excellent finish the car and adds nearly 650 lbs. to the caring capacity. Inside, this Plymouth features black leather seats that look great. The black door panels, carpet and dashboard are a continuation of the striking interior of this roadster and look fantastic. All the original gauges are correct with white face dials, with the tasteful factory addition of a Auto Meter tachometer mounted on the steering column. The air conditioning, AM/FM/Cassette radio, original multi-function leather wrapped steering wheel and shift knob are in very good condition. This Prowler is nicely equipped with a high-output 24-valve SOHC 253hp 3.5L V-6 engine fed by a electronic fuel injection. Power is transferred to the wheels by a 4-speed AutoStick automatic transmission. The factory duel exhaust give this Plymouth the hot-rod car sound it deserves. Drivers assist features include power steering, power brakes and limited slip differential. This example rides on an independent front a rear suspension set up with coil-over wishbone rear suspension. The staggered 17-inch in the front and 20-inch rear chrome 5-spoke alloy wheels (including the trailer's) are in excellent condition with no chipping or marring.
