This stunning Buick is body number four of the six total examples of this model built in Oshawa, Ontario by General Sam McLaughlin, the patriarch of General Motors. The Canadian-built cars wore badges proclaiming them as McLaughlin Buicks, and weren’t sold in the US - obviously making this specimen an exceptionally rare find. In the United States Buick plant, there were a mere 68 of these 96Cs built.
The frame-off restoration on this magnificent vehicle began in 1976, wherein every nut, bolt and piece of the car was removed and restored. Completed in 2007, every major component of this car has been kept as original as possible, including its 344.8CID inline 8-cylinder engine, which was the largest straight-eight Buick offered at the time.
This well-documented piece features a clock in the glove box door, cat’s eye lighter, dual horns, dual side mount spare tires, auxiliary trunk, and even a golf club storage compartment.
Presenting beautifully in Sharapi Blue with sand top with complimenting dark tan interior, this wonderful McLaughlin Buick is a prime example of 1930’s elegance and extravagance. It presents very well, is well sorted, and would make an outstanding selection for shows, tours, or as the centerpiece of any collection.
