The answer came in the form of a concept car which featured 1930s hot rod styling and modern engineering, the Prowler. Production of the Prowler began in 1997, with 457 examples produced, 343 of which were sold in the United States. For the initial 1997 model year, the Prowler was only offered in Prowler Purple Metallic.
