Very Nice Original
Corvair Monza Spyder
"Though the Monza Spyder was announced in coupe and convertible form in February 1962, production actually began in April. Despite all that went into it, the Spyder package (RPO 690) cost only $317.45. The 1962, 1963, 1964 Chevrolet Corvair Monza Spyder were produced in limited numbers and proved that Chevrolet was willing to take chances by designing an efficient, high-performance sports car. The Spyder package's signature feature was a turbo-charged 150-hp engine, producing a staggering 70 hp more than the base engine. A four-speed transmission and better brakes were mandatory options, and the package included heavy-duty suspension. It wasn't glamorous but was more useful than the turbo in the real world, where lag limited help at less than highway speeds unless driven hard."

After college, I obtained my first teaching position and, being single at that time, I traded in my 10-year-old junker for my first new car, a 1964 Corvair Spyder coupe.
Just when you thought you’d seen everything, here’s a truly strange piece of Chevrolet history: the one and only amphibious Corvair pickup truck.
So why not? That’s what the builder of this custom Chevrolet Corvair must have said to himself when he decided to transplant a Chevy 350 cid V8 into its rear engine compartment.
The 1960 Corvair was an all-new kind of vehicle for Chevrolet, a rear-engine, air-cooled car aimed directly at the popular Volkswagen beetle.
The poor Chevrolet Corvair. Of all the classic cars ever produced we are hard pressed to find one that has received more abuse, much of it unjustified, than the Corvair.
