1939 GM Futurliner
This 1939 Futurliner, # 3 Power for the Air Age, is one of twelve ever manufactured and one of nine known to exist. In 2013-2014 it was fully restored by Dave Kindig and the crew at Kindig-It Design in Salt Lake City, UT as seen on the TV show "Bitchin Rides". Like the original, the restored version displays an Allison J-35 jet engine.
The GM Futurliners were a group of custom vehicles styled by Harley Earl for General Motors and company's Parade of Progress. Each Futurliner was styled with Art Deco body work, red sides and white roof with large articulated chrome side panels. This massive vehicle is 33 feet long, 8 feet wide, more than 11 feet tall, and weighs more than 12 tons. The Futurliner has a gasoline GM 302 inline 6 cylinder with a Hydramatic transmission.
