Clean coke-bottle styling swept through the Chevrolet lineup for 1969 and certainly made its way onto the Impala. The most popular full-size Chevrolet included everything from a grocery-getter station wagon to performance-oriented Super Sport in the lineup. The 2-door Impala was available a Convertible Sport Coupe or the formal-top Custom Coupe. This 1969 Custom Coupe is not only a Super Sport but features a matching-numbers 427-cubic-inch Turbo-Jet V-8 engine backed by the optional Turbo-Hydramatic 400 3-speed automatic transmission. The regular production option Super Sport Z24 427-cubic-inch engine was rated for 390 horsepower at 5400 RPM and 460 pounds-feet of torque at 3600 RPM. The Z24 Super Sport option also brought along power front disc brakes with chassis and suspension upgrades to back up the improved horsepower. Super Sport trim and 427 badging finished up the package. Additional options continue in the black interior which is loaded with convenience. Power steering makes for effortless control. Four-Season factory air conditioning and power windows join the original Philco pushbutton AM radio and modern aftermarket stereo for in-cabin comfort and entertainment. Optional and mysterious retractable headlights give the black-on-black car a formal yet sinister appearance. This Impala Super Sport Custom Coupe is one of only 2455 built in 1969 and has traveled 4500 miles since the rotisserie restoration in Tuxedo Black. The full-size Impala scored a 996 out of 1000 possible points at the Chevy Nationals and comes with an album of restoration photographs. 17-inch American Racing 5-spoke aluminum wheels shod with staggered aspect ratio Nitto NT-450 tires give the Impala an aggressive stance.
